Synopsis
Global Diabetes is an international documentary investigation into the economic scandal surrounding what promises to be this century’s leading pandemic.
The film addresses a disease that is symptomatic of our socio-economic system and whose treatment reads like alaundry list of flaws in our public health systems, or a summary of the inequality between the rich and poor.
While tackling these issues is urgent, GLOBAL DIABETES, takes the time to investigate the subject rigorously and cinematically. The directorial style uses patients’ personal testimony to breathe freedom and emotion into a journalistic base; it tunes us in to the political gusto of activists, and the hidden agendas of industry experts; and it uses the classic conventions of international investigative reporting.
